3D Modeler & Printer

Me and my lovely fiancé, Heidi.

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Ben, I live in Mechelen, Belgium.
Together with fiancé Heidi we have 6 kids.
No no, we are not busy bees.
Heidi has four and I have two.
All the children have already left the nest.

I am in my 50s and my passions are: (in order of importance)

  • My lovely fiancé Heidi (since 2007)

  • Everything to do with PC's, Server, Linux, Windows, etc… (since 1982)

  • 3D Modelling & printing (since 2021)

  • Web design (since 2006)

  • Photography (since 1990)

So my passion for 3D modelling & printing is new.

The seed was planted in 2018, when I was looking to buy a stand for my smartwatch, I did not find it, but i came across a 3D model. So I started looking for someone who could print this for me.
I found someone and paid about 40 euro for the print, not cheap but still word it.

Until 2019,  I had no need for 3D printing, then I came into contact with 3D-printed objects through work.
And thought I would like to be able to print these models myself and I started doing research, I required a printer that could print out of the box. I came across the "Flashforge Adventurer 3" which was on promotion at the time, so after consulting Heidi, I bought this printer.

To keep the story short:

  • Printing with the Flashforge Adventurer 3 was easy.

  • Need to design things yourself, so I asked my colleague Lothar for advice, he pointed me to Fusion 360.

  • Installed Fusion 360.

  • Followed some Fusion 360 training on LinkedIn learning.

  • Printed my models on the Flashforge Adventurer 3.

  • In need of a bigger printer.

  • Bought a Creality Ender 3 Max, with a build volume of 300x300x340.

  • Designed more models in Fusion 360.

  • Designed this website.

The 3D adventure continues .....
